People go missing every day, all over the world. It’s a sad fact, but it’s true. Some are abducted. Some are lost at sea or by airplanes that disappear. Some are criminals on the run. Others leave everything they know on purpose. Sometimes we just don’t know what happens to them.
Though everyday people make up the majority of these missing persons, they aren’t often heard about beyond the area where they live. Celebrities and famous people are a different story. When they disappear, it’s internationally known.
When it’s a well known person that is missing, they make movies and tv specials about them. There are many books written about them. And now, here is an article about some of them. Some are actors, some children of famous people, and some became well known after their disappearance. I’m any event, they went missing and no evidence of where they are has been found.
1. Amelia Earhart

Back in the 1930s, air flight was still in its infancy, and dominated by men. The one shining female star in the industry was the amazing Amelia Earhart. She paved the way for females to follow behind her, but was lost m the process. Literally lost.
She had already completed a solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, among many other flights, when she set her sights on flying around the entire globe.
She set off with a navigator on that fateful day in 1937 to attempt the very first solo flight around the world.
She was set to refuel at a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean, Howland Island. Though they received radio calls from her close to the time she was expected, she never showed up. She and her plane just vanished without a trace.
Of course, there was a monumental effort to find her, one of the largest search efforts in history. To no avail. No trace has ever been found of her, the navigator or her aircraft.

2. Bambi Woods

The next person on the list is one whom you might not know, it you’ve probably heard the name of her most famous work. It is actually the highest selling pornography film of all time, with 50,000 units sold on VHS tape. Whether you are into adult entertainment films or not, you have likely heard of the famous movie ‘Debbie Does Dallas.’
In the 70’s, the porn industry was not well regulated, so her legal name isn’t known publicly, but Bambi Woods was the screen name she went by. She never imagined that the movie would make her so famous, and when the news that she was an adult actress got to her parents, she was so embarrassed that she took off and has never been heard from again.
There are theories that she assumed a normal persona and is living in Iowa, or that she died from an overdose in the mid 80’s.

3. Richey Edwards

Guitarist and songwriter Richey Edwards was a member of the band ‘Manic Street Preachers.’ He was a classic tortured musician who had many issues with drugs and self harming. He was known to cut himself with razors and burn himself with cigarettes. He incurred a few hospital stays because of these habits. He did drugs like crazy and was anorexic.
Just a few months after the release of their most well received album, ‘The Holy Bible’, Richey vanished. His car was found near a bridge that was a common spot for people to jump.
He is presumed to have died by suicide, joining the tragic “27 club” of artists who have died at the age of 27, such as Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.
His body has never been found, so it’s not 100% that he’s dead. His band mates have continued to have success since his disappearance, and they put aside his part of the earnings just in case he someday returns.

In 2005, cameraman Patrick McDermott went missing during an overnight fishing trip.
He had been in a relationship with singer and actress Olivia Newton John for nine years when the vanishing took place. Most believe he fell overboard and drowned, while others think he faked his own death to avoid paying child support.
Either way, he’s never been heard from again.

5. Michael Rockefeller

Micheal Rockefeller was the son of Nelson Rockefeller, who served as the 41st Vice President of the United States.
The family is considered to be one of the most powerful in the world. They are even rumored to be members of the Illuminati.
Michael set out on a trip in 1961 to photograph a tribe, the Asmats, in Netherlands, New Guinea. He and René Wassing, an anthropologist went together, but the trip didn’t go quite as planned.
Their boat overturned at one point and Michael decided he could make it to shore, which was about 12 miles away. He never made it.
There are many things that could have happened, including drowning. Other possibilities are that he was eaten by a shark or a crocodile. There is one tale going around that he did make it to shore and was eaten by some members of the tribe, as they practiced cannibalism. Supposedly, they have confirmed they ate him.
Without a body or any proof, though, we will never know what really happened to this young man.
