12 Pictures That Will Definitely Make You Pause and Wonder What Is Happening

If you are lucky, you will once in a while see something that will just make you pause and try to figure out what in the world is going on. Those sorts of experiences are what keep life rich, after all. Too much of life is sort of monotonous.

Obviously, you only want to see good things. Some unusual and extraordinary things can, unfortunately, be very bad.

I was once driving through a little town and saw a peacock crossing the road. I don’t exactly live in an area where peacocks just happen to show up. That was a pleasant, unusual experience. I tried to figure out what was going on, and I eventually did. Apparently, it was a pet peacock. I did not realize that people kept them as pets, and apparently doing so is not that uncommon. A lot of people do so, and there is a good bit of advice about keeping them available on the internet.

Prior to that experience, I had only ever seen one in a zoo.

I am thinking that I have gone on enough about peacocks. Here are thirteen pictures that will make you wonder what in the world is going on.

1. The UFO and the Traffic

If traffic is going to be blocked, which is always frustrating, you want it blocked by something interesting. What is more interesting than a UFO?

Unfortunately, unless I desperately need to turn on a news channel as I write this, I am guessing this is not a real UFO. However, I am curious how this ended up here. Was someone trying to make a joke? Is this social commentary that I simply don’t understand?

Someone obviously put a lot of work into making this thing, and I would love to know the reasons. You have to admire the person’s handiwork, although you also have to wonder if he or she couldn’t find better ways to spend time. This is probably what someone in 1952 thought a spaceship would look like.

2. The Ketchup Bottle

I am sure that the person in this image just grabbed whatever was around for the photo, and the ketchup bottle was the closest thing.

However, it is more fun to think that he actually drinks ketchup, though; it is unlikely, but possible. Ketchup can be pretty delicious.

The company that sort of controls the ketchup market, at least in the United States and the United Kingdom, is Heinz, which has been around for almost 150 years. Technically, because of a merger that occurred a few years back, the company is now Kraft-Heinz.

The company was founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The world headquarters are still there.
Heinz makes other products, too, including pickles.

3. The Face Swap

There was some sort of Snapchat-related face swap thing going on here, apparently. That must be a really well-done tattoo.

It isn’t a bad look, really. It is sort of creepy, sure, but not in a totally horrible way.

I am guessing that tattoo cost a small fortune. The cost of tattoos can be quite high. You might end up paying an artist $300 per hour, especially if you want something custom.

There are a lot of factors in regard to determining the price of a tattoo. Color, for obvious reasons, costs more.

The place on the body you are getting the tattoo also factors into the cost. Obviously, the size of the tattoo matters.

The skill of the artist, of course, is also a major factor. You don’t want to go to an artist who does not know what he or she is doing.

4. The Sidewalk

You really have to wonder about this one, don’t you? I understand there are valid reasons for a sidewalk to be closed, but this particular sidewalk looks perfectly fine.

Also, not that I need to point out the obvious, it is completely and totally accessible to people parked in a parking lot. What is the point of that sign? What is the point of that gate?

Did someone just get really lazy and forget to take it down? Maybe they left it there as some sort of joke.

Why is the sidewalk supposed to be closed? What exactly was happening on that sidewalk that it needed to be closed?

5. The Paddle

What we have here appears to be a guy in what could loosely be called a boat, and he is using an electric guitar as a paddle.

There are a lot of questions about this image, but I fear there won’t be many answers. I suppose it is possible that the person in this image hates his guitar for some reason.

Why is he in the middle of that water, though? His boat is also pretty terrible. I would worry that there was some sort of awful flooding situation going on, but he looks pretty happy, so the situation can’t be too dire.

For reasons unclear, there appears to be a sticker for a cigarette brand on the “boat”. However, it appears to be spelled wrong. There is a lot going on in this image.

6. The Desk in the Air

I have no idea how this happened. I don’t really know why, either. I’m assuming the person in that desk is just trying to show off. It is impressive, certainly. I sort of worry, though; if that desk comes crashing down that there is going to be an ugly problem that might result in a serious injury.

If I was in that class, though, I would be a little freaked out. Not that I believe in such things, certainly, but I might come to the conclusion that the person on that desk was some sort of wizard.

There is definitely a good reason everyone is staring.

7. The Candy Bar

This is a Snickers bar, and something is definitely missing. In case you are not familiar with the candy, there is supposed to be chocolate. If I bought this candy bar, I would be sort of upset, and I think I would have every right to be.

Snickers, of course, is one of the more popular candy bars in the world. They have been around since 1930, and billions of dollars are spent on them every year.

The candy bar was actually named after a horse of which the Mars family was particularly fond. Mars, Incorporated is the company that produces Snickers.

8. The Guy With the Curious Seat

There are a lot of jokes that could be made, and all of them would be sort of classless, so they will not be made here.

I really do have to wonder why one of those posts is clearly a lot shorter than the other. That seems like a rather odd design choice.

Also, even if the post is a lot shorter, that doesn’t look like a comfortable thing on which to sit. The person couldn’t find a more appropriate seat?

9. The Balloon in the Sky

Someone clearly messed up here. I don’t know how this can happen, and I probably do not want to know.

What is the purpose of this balloon? I don’t think pesto needs to be advertised. Most people know about pesto, right? I suppose it could be advertising some sort of pest-control place, which actually makes a lot more sense.

Pesto is great, though; a lot of people like it. It originated in Genoa, which is in Italy. The main ingredients include hard cheese, garlic, basil, and pine nuts.

In regard to the balloon, I hope nobody got injured as a result of whatever was happening there.

10. The Animals and the Store

What do all of these animals want from that store? Is there a particular reason they are so eager to go in? They might just be cold. There might be food in there that they want.

I think those are raccoons. They definitely look like them. If I owned that store or regularly shopped there, I would be terrified. I know that a lot of people keep—or try to keep—raccoons as pets, but they are sort of scary animals. They can be sort of aggressive creatures, especially during their mating season. It is also difficult to teach them commands, which makes them less-than-ideal pets.

11. The Hot Wax

I can’t imagine what led to this particular situation. When you get your car waxed, this is not the sort of situation you envision. I’m pretty sure that—unless this image was manipulated—this car is ruined. That is never a good thing.

After all, the average cost of a new car is pretty horrifying. In the United States, the average cost of a new car is over $30,000. If you are buying a used car, the average price is about $15,000—according to relatively recent statistics.

12. The Kiss With the Witch

This is just the lighting and angle and such, but this photo really does make it look like the young woman in this image has the nose of a witch. It is an optical illusion, of course, but it is a really neat one.

They seem like a nice, happy couple though; even if she did have a nose like that, I bet he would be kissing her.

Most of us these days know that witches probably don’t actually exist, but they are still pretty prevalent in popular culture. Belief in witchcraft also still exists in many societies throughout the world.

There is also Wicca, which is also called Pagan Witchcraft. Most of us are familiar with the term, but it is not as old as you might think. The religious movement wasn’t really formed until the first half of the 20th century. It was somewhat formed by a person named Gerald Gardner, who was born in England, and he wrote many of the formative texts of the religion. He is widely considered to be the “Father of Wicca”.

In case you are not familiar, there was something called the Witchcraft Act 1735, which was passed by the Parliament of the Kingdom of Great Britain in 1735. It made it a crime to claim any person had magical powers or was practicing witchcraft. One could be punished for a year as a result of such claims. As a result, it was no longer legal to hunt or execute witches, which is definitely a good thing. The hunting of other people is always bad.

In regard to the picture, it really is interesting, and it just goes to show you what optical illusions can do and how one’s eyes can play tricks on them.
