Every country has its own stories about haunted houses or vengeful spirits. However, when it comes to the fourth oldest pub in the UK, the stories are more than a few.
Many people believe the Ye Olde Man and Scythe pub is one of the spookiest places in the UK. People say the pub is haunted by up to 25 ghosts. Some of the most famous ghosts are the ones of James Stanley, the beheaded earl of Derby, one woman who allegedly took her own life in the pub’s cellar and even a phantom dog. This February one of those ghosts was caught on a CCTV camera exactly on Valentine’s Day. Tony Dooley, the manager of Ye Olde Man and Scythe, said he didn’t believe in ghosts but after seeing the camera’s footage and finding some broken glass on the floor, he might just start believing in ghosts.
Of course, for those of you who don’t believe either, the flickering ghost captured on camera might as well be just an electrical glitch.
