Shortly after he finished Spectre in 2015 Craig stated that he was almost certain he wouldn’t reprise his role as the most famous fictional secret agent in any more James Bond movies. The 48 year old actor stated that he would rather “slash his wrists” than do another Bond project and that if he indeed reprises his role, it would be only for the money. Craig’s salary for Casino Royale was a mere $3,200,000, but Spectre brought him a cool $39 million. His earnings for the four Bond movies, in which he starred, doubled with each new project and now sources close to the actor have revealed that he has turned down the biggest offer to date.
The Brit was supposedly offered £68 million ($99 million in USD) for the next movie, but he has refused to continue with the franchise whatsoever. The 48 year old has said numerous times before that he’s done with the character of James Bond and that he’s looking forward to portraying other roles. However, the producers aren’t happy about his decision. Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre have brought tons and tons of money in box office and they aren’t ready to give up on Craig just yet. However, there have been talks lately about a possible successor to Daniel Craig and Tom Hiddelston is one of the top candidates on the list of possible British actors, who could take on the baton.
If the reports are telling the truth, the next Bond movie, which is going to be the 25th, will give us the beloved secret agent’s mischiefs and heroics once again, but this time he will be with a brand new face.
