He might look like a rock, but the 43 year old former wrestler and actor isn’t as solid as a rock when it comes to his mental state.
In an interview he did for The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year Johnson revealed that he has suffered severe depression due to the many unfortunate events in his youth. First of all, Dwayne was kicked out of his own home when he was only 14 years old. He also got himself into some deep trouble with the law as a teenager. He also suffered through many injuries as a football player in college and he had to drop out of the University of Miami without ever finishing his studies. His coach managed to make him go back to school, but Dwayne was dropped as a football player up until he didn’t sign with the Calgary Stampeders, from where he was also eventually dumped.
The young player was so crushed by everything that had went through that he entered a really dark place. When speaking about his past depression, The Rock stated that he cried constantly and couldn’t feel the need or the will to go out and do anything about his life.
Regardless of his depression and his downs in life, Johnson’s career turned out to be brilliant. His path may have been steep, but it looks like everything was worth it. Nowadays he is one of the best-known faces around the world, he had a super successful wrestling career and his acting gigs are blockbusters. His net worth is $160 million, he is expecting a child with his long-time girlfriend Lauren Hashian, and… he’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after all!
