The woman is the very last alive person, who was born back in the 1800s.
Earlier this May it was announced that the 116 year old Emma has taken the top spot after the previous oldest person alive, Mushatt Jones, passed away on the 12th of May this year. The woman is currently residing in an apartment Verbania, Italy, where she posed for pictures taken by The Associated Press – pictures, which are currently going viral all over the web. Since the native Italian was officially labeled as the oldest person on our planet by the Gerontology Research Group, everybody has been eager to know the secret to her long life. The 116 year old woman shared that she eats on a strict diet, which consists of 100g of raw steak and a couple of raw eggs per day. It’s strange that such things keep the woman alive, but she’s appears to be in a good condition regardless of her age. Tons of well-wishers sent their best to Emma for her 116th birthday and as she thanked everybody for the gifts and the wishes, she shared that she was feeling and “doing fine” even though she’s well-surpassed 100 years.
On the other hand, Italians are well-known for her longevity. The secret as to what makes Italians so long-lasting is still a mystery to researchers, but the University of Milan is currently conducting a study on Emma and several other centenarians, all of which are originally from Italy. According to the Gerontology Research Group’s official list of the oldest people in the world, there are 3 centenarians from Italy in the 10 oldest people alive, all of whom are aged 113 or more.
