On December 15, Eminem will be dropping his latest album, Revival, and his fans couldn’t be more excited.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last 20 years or so, Eminem is the best selling rap artist of all time. Born Marshall Bruce Mathers, on October 17, 1972, in St. Joseph, Missouri. The 45 year old has been turning out hits since his breakout album, The Slim Shady LP. In January of 1999 “My Name Is” was released and became an instant hit. The success of that song made him a bona fide superstar. The album was the best selling one of the year.
This sudden fame was the culmination of years of hard work and struggles. Marshall didn’t have an easy childhood. His parents split up when he was young, and he and his mother ended up moving every year or two. He was bullied a lot, one time suffering severe injury to one of his hands. A lawsuit followed, but was dismissed by the court the next year.
He became interested in rapping at a young age and really worked hard to perfect his craft. He spent hours writing lines and working on the rhyming. He snuck into other high schools for rap battles in the lunchroom, and he entered contests whenever he could. His life was in turmoil much of the time, and he put his aggressions and anger into his rhymes. His life and rise through the underground rap scene is loosely depicted in the film 8 Mile, which he stars in.
He began a relationship with Kim Scott in his teens, and they had a daughter, Hailie Jade in 1995. Anyone who listens to Eminem knows how much he adores her. He and Kim had a lot of troubles and were on and off for many years before finally calling it quits for good. They even married two times. He is reported as being a devoted father, to not only Hailie, but to her sister Whitney, and cousin Alaina. Alaina’s mother was Kim’s twin sister, who passed away several years ago.
This is his first album in several years and as with any new music, the people want to know if a tour is to follow. The answer is yes! An American tour is in the works, but no dates have been released as of yet. Em’s manager, Cara Lewis, told Pollstar that a road show is imminent. He will be performing on select dates, but it is not yet clear how many concerts there will be.
While fans in the U.S. are happy with this announcement, fans overseas want some Slim Shady, too! Many have tweeted, asking him to come to the U.K., specifically.

Recently, he did appear in the U.K. as a part of the Reading and Leeds festival. He put on a great show, pumping up the crowd with his classics and leading a chant of F***k Trump.
His last tour took place in 2013, in support of The Marshall Mathers LP 2. It featured guest performers such as Kendrick Lamar and J Cole.
Last month, he debuted the first track from Revival, a collaboration with Beyoncé titled “Walk on Water.” As he often does, the song includes some personal lyrics, wondering if his fans are still standing by him and his career.
Revival features many guest stars, such as Skylar Grey, X Ambassadors, Ed Sheeran, Pink and more.
When Eminem was asked by Interview Magazine about touring he replied “I’m not sure. We usually do mini tours.” He spoke more about touring, saying that it was hard and early in his career he used to have 2-3 shows a day. He finished by stating “That being said, I do actually enjoy doing the shows.”
Lewis pointed out that hip hop is the most popular genre of music worldwide. With streaming being the norm, it has grown, and fast. People around the world can listen, watch and share all of their faves like never before.
