A lot of us are more similar to one another than we would really like to admit. There are a lot of sayings out there about how you can’t really understand a person until you have lived a day of their life—variations on that sort of thing—but the fact of the matter is that there are a lot of situations out there to which a good percentage of the world can relate.
Even if you can’t relate to another person’s precise situation, you can relate something similar in your own life to what they are going through. Every situation is unique, true, but many situations can also seem quite comparable.
Here are fifteen images that show the kind of situations to which many of us can relate.
1. The Image With the Ruined Car

I am kind of worried that this guy might have drowned after the picture was taken. The water definitely looks deep enough that it could pose a real threat to his health. People can drown in shallow puddles, after all.
The image quality is not great, so I can’t really tell what sort of facial expression he is wearing. I am sure it was not one of optimism, hope, and joy.
If we are drivers, most of us have been in car accidents. A lot of us have had our personal property—including our vehicles—destroyed by Mother Nature. His situation might be worse than the weather-related situation you were in, but we can all relate.
2. The Image About Society in 2018

Unless you are talking to yourself in a mirror and you are in an exceptionally good mood, you probably should not share your thoughts about anything remotely controversial in this day and age. That is just a huge mistake. You are bound to offend someone in some fashion.
Everyone these days can relate to that. That’s why more and more people are doing their best to avoid society as much as possible.
In case you are not familiar, putting Mentos in Diet Coke is a fun and messy way to spend a few minutes. If you are going to do it, then do it outside. You probably do not want a soda eruption in your kitchen—unless you are passively aggressively trying to get back at the person responsible for cleaning the kitchen. To protect your eyes, you should wear safety goggles.
3. The Image With the Beer and the Belt

At first glance, this is sort of a depressing image; however, we probably should not be judging the guy in this image. For all we know, he is drinking his first beer of the day. The kid looks pretty happy to be with him, so things can’t be too bad, right?
Anyone who has ever had a kid, babysat a kid, or taught a kid knows how exhausting the little creatures can be.
Just interacting with them can wear you out and aggravate you.
Almost everyone can relate to this guy’s need to cope with his day. The kid is adorable, but I am sure she is a lot of work.
4. The Image About Changing Fashion

Technically, this may be one of those situations to which only people old enough to have teenage children can relate. I suppose teenagers who have seen pictures of their parents as teenagers can also relate.
Fashion has changed in a relatively short period of time—at least compared to the rest of human history, anyway. I think everyone knows that.
I will let others debate whether the changes have been for the better or for the worse. I am guessing that people who were teens in the 80s and 90s will argue that things have changed for the worse, whereas most people born after 2000 or so will argue that things have changed for the better.
The image quality on the left isn’t the best, but it kind appears as if the young woman is irritated that her picture is being taken. Before digital cameras, getting your picture taken was sort of a big deal. Film was not cheap.
The young ladies on the right, however, are intentionally taking photos of themselves—and they look thrilled to be able to do so. My, how times have changed!
5. The Image About the Chopsticks

People can and do get set in their ways. We can all relate to that. Even if you are not one of those people who insists on using chopsticks to eat your meal when you do not technically need to do so, you are probably set in your ways.
Those ways are just different ways. Some people need to have their closet organized in a certain way, for example. Other people really like a specific brand of soda pop.
There is a lot to be said about eating with chopsticks. They certainly work. They have been used for millennia, after all, so they certainly have staying power. The Chinese first used them during the Zhou Dynasty, and from there they would eventually spread to other countries in Asia.
6. The Image About the Recliners

Guys love lounging around in recliners. That is pretty universal. Sure, there is the occasional guy that does not enjoy it so much; however, most guys love it. Most women also love it.
The baby in this image definitely loves his little recliner, which is adorable. It is also really cute that he is dressed almost exactly like the man in the image. The two are clearly having a great time.
It is kind of funny that the baby has the remote, though. Has the baby learned to channel surf already? If so, that is truly impressive.
7. The Image About the Strange Hairstyles

I think almost all of us can relate to how creative hairstyles are getting these days. I do not remember that always being the case.
The stripes in the hair is definitely a new thing, I think. I definitely don’t remember those being around a decade ago. I’m no hairstylist, though, and never hung around fancy hair salons.
I don’t know what Jack Wagner is talking about precisely in regard to the hometown thing—I get that he is making a joke, of course—but I can totally relate to being confused by this style.
It just sort of came out of nowhere, and it will probably be around for a very long time. Based on what I have seen while out and about, it is extremely popular.
8. The Image About the Calculators
I think most people who graduated high school prior to 2006 or so were told by teachers they we would not be allowed to carry about calculators with us wherever we went. It is hard to blame the teachers for being so wrong, though. They were truly set in their ways. A lot of people do not react well to change.
Weirdly enough, despite the rise of the smart phone, devoted graphic calculators are still for sale. When I checked, the Texas Instruments TI‑84 Plus costs around $100. That seems insane to me considering how little it can compared to the phone most people carry around everywhere.
9. The Image About the Restaurant

What a peculiar name for a restaurant. Do I want to eat there? Are second wives known for being even better cooks than first wives?
Maybe this restaurant is just a somewhat cruel way of telling everyone who walks through its doors that a lot of marriages these days don’t last—which is something a lot of people know and can relate to. It is not anything most people want to admit, but statistics do not lie. Roughly 50 percent of marriages in the United States—overall, including second and third marriages—end in divorce.
10. The Image About the Car Radio

Believe it or not, this is not at all unusual. Most of us can relate to this. People turn their car radios down when they are lost, and they also turn them down when they are looking for an address. Actually, almost anyone who drives can relate to this.
There is a pretty simple reason people do it. It is all a matter of concentration. Your brain can only do so many things at one time. The sounds coming from the radio are distracting you from finding an address or a parking space, so you turn the radio down.
11. The Image About the Frozen Pizza

If you have a frozen pizza and you are lucky enough to be able to enjoy one, you are in a good spot. I think, though, that a lot of us can understand wanting to rearrange the pepperoni. I have seen people rearrange mushrooms, peppers, and sausage. With every bite of your pizza, you want to taste your toppings.
12. The Image About the Beard

If you are a guy, or you have one in your life, you can relate to this. It is almost always true. There are exceptions to this rule, sure, but the fact of the matter is that a clean shaven man tends to look a few years younger than one who has not shaved in a while. This is not always a good thing, though, especially for men who have so-called “baby faces”.
Men who have shaven recently are generally considered more professional and presentable to employers, and that is always a plus.
Of course, men with stubble and beards do tend to look more rugged, and a lot of men find shaving irritating to their skin. Men without stubble and beards are considered more approachable, true; that isn’t always a good thing, though, is it?
13. The Image About the Phone in the Water

I do not know a single person who has not damaged their phone. Sometimes, you drop them on the pavement. Sometimes you get so angry at the person to whom you are speaking that you throw them against the wall. Phones are not the most indestructible things on the planet.
Fortunately, most models of smartphones are getting a lot better about water exposure. Still, dropping your phone into a creek or a river is a giant pain in the rear. It seems to happen a lot. You would think people would be more careful around bodies of water. Thank goodness the guy had the equipment on hand necessary in order to retrieve his phone.
14. The Image About the Socks and the Sandals

Many parents can probably relate to this mean, ungrateful child. It is not that hard to bring in groceries.
Also, are socks and sandals together acceptable now? When did that change? I don’t care if they are an acceptable combination—that is still a hideous look. Unless your foot doctor told you to wear that particular combination for some sort of foot fungus-related reason, you should pass.
That said, there are probably a lot of people out there who relate to the desire to want to wear socks with their sandals and not be judged for it.
