They say that nothing lasts forever and that is the truth. Regardless of how durable and robust something might be, it will still eventually wear down or break down. This is actually normal, as everything has its own lifecycle. The list below shows random things that proved to be very durable and reliable.
1. The pliers
We guess that professional handymen and electricians need a set of these in basically any task they need to complete. Of course, even the strongest set of pliers would never last a lifetime which is why this person bought a new one.
2. The shoes
People who spend a lot of time on foot are well aware of the fact that they need to pick the right shoes if they want to endure and to be comfortable throughout the day. This person obviously loved their shoes because they wore them down to an extreme level.
3. The joint nail
Here is something you do not see every day. This is a joint nail – a tool used to fill in the gaps between bricks when you lay them one after another. This one is worn down to its maximum – it was once half an inch longer and sharp, too.
4. The knife
It seems that possessions that are transferred from one generation to another are sometimes of great value to the people in that family. This knife, for example, has seen many decades and you can tell by its blade.
5. The samurai sword
You don’t need this kind of thing around your home unless it is meant to serve as decoration but some people actually use these for practice on a daily basis. In this case, the person who used it wore down its handle with their thumb.
6. The hooks
As you can see, these hooks are now new additions to this person’s room. They are deformed and bruised because they are used on a daily basis. This person attaches a pull-up bar on them each day and they will need to be replaced soon.
7. The guitar
Musical instruments that are used every day would ultimately need restoration or replacement when they are eventually worn down to the point they are no longer usable. The neck of this Fender Stratocaster is about to be left without paint soon.
8. The coin
This is a dollar coin featuring the image of Eisenhauer or what is left of it. This person’s father used to carry the coin in his pocket for decades and you can see that all the friction smoothed out the coin to the point where you can’t tell what it features.
9. The chainsaw
Here is yet another example of how unforgiving time is. This chainsaw bar was probably used every day for the last 25 years and the fact that it lasted so long is a sure sign of the quality of these machines.
10. The name tag
It seems that some pet owners do not understand the need to have a name tag on their dog’s collar. In case the pup gets lost, it would be easier to be taken by some stranger if that stranger knew the animal’s name. This old collar and name tag were obviously used for many years.
11. The sidewalk
They say that nothing is more powerful than nature and we know just how big the force of water is. Even if there is no large debit, time and running water would ultimately be unstoppable, too. This leak has been slowly carving the sidewalk for years and it already has a small river bed.
12. The gearshift knob
People sometimes believe that every part of their car should wear down at the same rate but we are certain that some parts wear faster. The gearshift knob and the rubber pedal cover are among the first parts to wear down because the driver touches them all the time.
13. The sticker
Here is what happens to a sticker after it spends quite some time stuck on a light pole. This is not a weatherproof sticker and you can immediately tell that. The humidity and the sun destroyed the sticker.
14. The grenade
Here is something that you don’t see every day. This Soviet-era item has all the signs of a well-aged collector’s item and its bruises and chipped paint are the result of it being tossed around warehouses.
15. The stuffed toy
The trouble with stuffed animals is that they would eventually wear down to the point they are no longer in one piece which is why they should be replaced after a reasonable period. In this case, the new toy looks much different from the old.
16. The trail map
Here is yet another example of how time changes everything. This is a trail map and the white smudge section is actually a worn-down area caused by people tracing the route to the beach with their fingers.
17. The keychains
Here is something very curious to see. This Yoda keychain was made from a single LEGO figure but it wore down in time, making Yoda unrecognizable. You see how the new Yoda looks like on the right.
18. The air filter
Regularly maintaining your vehicle will ensure it runs great for many years but it seems that someone missed that lesson and neglected their air filter. You can see just how bad the old one looks – it hardly let any air pass through it.
