Shortly after Jobs passed away in October 2011 at the age of 56, tons of interviews with former colleagues, family members and friends surfaced. One of the interviewed people, Ron Givens, stated that even though Jobs always expected the best from his team, he was also a great motivator. Givens worked as the director of quality at Apple between 1981 and 1986 and he recalled a surprising and entertaining day from the 1980s. At that time, one of Jobs’ secretaries arrived late for work one day and Jobs demanded to know why. The woman, who was a single mother and a responsible worker, told him that her car had malfunctioned and that she couldn’t start it. Later that same day Jobs walked into the woman’s office, gave her keys to a shiny new Jaguar and told her to never be late again!
Givens also shared that he remembers Jobs as a genius and a great motivator. This story surely proves him as such!
