Have you ever wondered just how much money Keanu Reeves got from his iconic role in the movie The Matrix and its sequels?
In 1999 Reeves earned a solid $10 million for portraying Neo plus 10% of the gross the blockbuster made in its opening weeks. He received another $30 million and 30% of the gross from the two sequels from 2003 – The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. He earned a total of $114 million from the sequels, but never got the chance to actually spend the money on lavish homes and vacations because he had to pay the special effects and make-up teams who had worked on the movies. That cost him a total of $80 million and left him with roughly a whopping $34 million.
Nevertheless, he never regretted giving away all those millions. According to him, he could live for centuries off what was left of that money.
