Mike Tyson, the legendary boxer, didn’t have an easy start in life. He never met his biological father and his step-father was a brief occurrence in the boxer’s childhood. His mother lost her job and became an alcoholic when Tyson was about 7 years old leaving him unattended most of the time. It was there that Cus D’Amato, a legendary trainer, spotted the 13-year-old then boy who had already made a name for himself as a notorious troublemaker. The trainer became a mentor and a father figure for Tyson and brought him to glory.
However, money and fame were too much for Tyson as he couldn’t handle it all. The boxer became involved in substance abuse, excessive alcohol drinking and had brief relationships with a countless number of women. He was married to Robin Givens which soon resulted in a horrible divorce when Robin publicly accused Tyson of being physically frightening, manic depressive and psychologically unstable. Tyson’s life of decadence was leading him to no good.
In 1992 Tyson faced charges for assaulting Desiree Washington, a 19-year-old beauty queen. After his conviction Tyson was facing sixty years behind bars but, luckily for him, he was given six years of which he only served three. In the week before his sentence was made known, Tyson reported he “romanced” all of his numerous lovers and even went to visit a hoodoo priest in order to help him evade prison. The alleged “karma healer” advised Tyson to put $500 in a jar, urinate in it and leave it under his bed for three days.
