The then-23 year old spent 6 days in a coma and woke up speaking perfect French, though he had previously had only a basic knowledge of the language from back when he was in high school. And if that doesn’t sound shocking enough, the footballer also thought he was the famous Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey! Rory was thinking how he was eager to get out of the hospital and get back to filming his next gig when he took a look at his reflection and was shocked to realize he was in fact not Mr. McConaughey.
Rory had suffered a severe brain haemorrhage. Although he has fully recovered from the car crash, he’s still able to speak fluent French.
