John Cena Fires Back Over $500k Ford GT Lawsuit

It was just a few months ago that John Cena found himself in some hot water when he sold a rare Ford GT limited edition, with 647 horsepower and a 3.5L EcoBoost engine. He has now asked for the case to be thrown out of court, citing that he has done nothing wrong.

Ford says he was obligated, by signed contract, to keep the car for a period of no less than two years. They are suing him for the premature sale of the limited edition vehicle.

The manufacturer only produced 1,000 of the special vehicles and handpicked who was eligible for a chance to purchase one of them.

Many celebrities competed for the chance to earn the right to buy one of the GTs by submitting applications to do so. John Cena included photos, videos, and social media posts to prove that he loved and was in the practice of promoting high end automobiles.

Race car driver Joey Logano, and Houston Astro’s pitcher Jeremy Verlander are two of the other celebs that were allowed to purchase the super car.

Ford claims, in their complaint, that Cena led them to believe he was a great choice to be allowed possession of their newest model.

Cena is an avid collector of cars and he mentioned many of the high end vehicles and limited editions that he already had in his possession. One of those was a 2006 model GT.

John Cena claims that he has done nothing wrong because the final papers said nothing about not selling for 24 months. He says they can shove their lawsuit. He made his feelings on the lawsuit perfectly clear to TMZ in insisting Ford has no case against him.

It’s not clear for what amount he sold the half million dollar car, but Ford says it was for a big profit. They claim that they have a clause saying that nobody can flip these vehicles for a profit for a period of two years following the sale. They want the entirety of his profit.

The contract he signed contained no such clause, according the the superstar.

He says the problem lies with Ford not placing a sale restriction clause in the contract that he signed, so he doesn’t deserve to be punished as a result of their oversight.

The actor and WWE superstar has filed paperwork with a Michigan court to have the case dismissed.

As of late, Cena has been working more in Hollywood, making several movies and not wrestling nearly as much as he used to. He wants his fans to see that there is a different side to him.
