As some of you may already know, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement just recently and now we have photos of the couple from their appearance at Kensington Palace on October 27, during the afternoon. There was even a television broadcast scheduled for the same evening.
The photocall was held in the Sunken Gardens, a personal favourite place of the late Princess Diana. Understandably, the couple was interviewed on the spot and when asked about their mood, both Harry and his fiance felt exhilarated to say the least.
Apparently, it was love at first sight for the prince as he told the interviewers that he realised Meghan was the one the moment he first met her.
The two’s appearance was adorable. They showed up as they were holding hands and dressed in stunning clothing, fitting for the most talked about couple since Prince William and Kate Middleton. Reporters wanted to know all the spicy details about the proposal but Harry explained that he would further elaborate at a later time. All they were told was that it was very, very romantic for both of them.
We also got to see the beautiful ring on Meghan Markle’s hand, a product of Harry’s personal design. It features three diamond rings, the larger being in the middle and two smaller ones on the sides. The stone at the center is from the country of Botswana, which holds important memories from his childhood, as well as more recent ones. The stones on the sides are part of Harry’s late mother’s collection. Meghan Markle spoke about how special it feels to wear something which belonged to the step-mother she unfortunately could never meet. The ring itself is made out of yellow gold as it’s the future bride’s favourite.
The couple has been relatively out of the public eye for the most part, considering this is their first appearance together since their visit at the Toronto Invictus Games back in September of 2017.
Reportedly, the wedding is scheduled for sometime in Spring of next year and it’s expected to be the most grandiose royal wedding. Perhaps it may even surpass Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 2011 walk down the aisle.
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip also spoke out about the event, expressing delight and wishing them all the happiness in the world.
Now, let’s go back in time to November 2010, when Prince William and Kate Middleton had their own official photocall. Theirs was at St. James’ Palace. They celebrated their soon-to-be marriage at the time there and were also subject to a lot of media attention not only in the UK but in the whole world.
William and his significant other had their first joint interview at the time and it turned out to be their longest one so far.
It covered a lot of aspects of the royal couple’s lovely relationship such as the beginning of their connection to the proposal itself and their plans for their future together. All of this was aired on television the same day of the public announcement of the engagement. In fact, that was also when the so-called “Kate effect” began, with Middleton wearing her trademark royal blue dress.
Kate spoke about William’s proposal, descibing it as shocking and describing her man as a true romantic at heart.
As for the prince, he was completely honest, saying he needed some serious motivation and planning to find the perfect time for the proposal. He ended up doing it while the couple were visiting Kenya.
As for the origin of the relationship, apparently it started when the two were students at the University of St. Andrews. William and Kate became friends there and remained as such for a whole year before they started dating. As the prince described it himself, the two really started to feel a connection sparking up after they spent a bit of time together.
As for Kate, she felt really stressed by the idea of meeting William’s dad, also known as Prince Charles. It’s quite understandable that she felt that way but she shared that in fact, the Prince of Wales turned out to be very warm towards her and welcomed her from the very beginning.
As it turns out, we can see that both princes’ love lives are going well and we couldn’t be happier for them. Let’s hope Prince William and Kate’s marriage continues to fill their hearts with joy and we wish all the best to Harry and Meghan’s future together.
