As consumers, we are used to seeing all kinds of fancy packaging and this is done for a reason. We need to be attracted to certain products and there are numerous marketers and designers who are eager to make us devoted fans of their product. Sometimes, they use deceiving tactics to reach their goals and this list is dedicated to that.
1. The volume
Here is a package that only looks bigger but it actually holds the same quantity as the smaller one.
2. The big font
Putting something with a large font that is only half the truth is nothing but a deceiving act.
3. The blocks
It looks as if this package contains nine blocks but there are only eight of them inside.
4. The cheese
This cheese slice is only half of what the packaging suggests and this is just not fair to see.
5. The number
One would assume that there are eight pieces inside but there are only five – this is one tricky design.
6. The crayons
This package is similar to the previous one – it only shows four crayons and that is all there is.
7. The set
Here is a coloring set that was supposed to contain 90 pieces but it is mostly empty.
8. The cakes
The packaging shows yummy fruit-filled cakes but there is hardly any jam inside.
9. The adapter
It really seems that this is not the actual size of this USB adapter and the difference is huge!
10. The candy
Now, this is one of the worst kinds of disappointment – it is related to food and chocolate in particular.
11. The painter set
It looks like these tubes are quite big on the outside but there is a pad creating this illusion.
12. The rolls
We guess that one would expect to see a large sticker roll but these are only big enough to fit inside the box.
13. The chocolate bars
As you can see, there is not a single difference in the size of these bars. The wrappers suggest otherwise.
14. The matchsticks
We guess that we should always read the fine font because these are matchsticks and not matches.
15. The cereal
Here is one extremely deceiving trick: the new box is much bigger but it contains less products.
16. The wipes
These flushable wipes are a product we would never use, as they are not good for the environment, obviously.
17. The product
This set of eyeshadows was actually not safe for use around the eyes and this was written with a pale font.
18. The beer
You can see that this beer does not contain 8% alcohol because the blended font reads “less than”.
19. The plastic blocks
It seems that this set contains only half of the advertised 1000 bricks which is a deceit.
20. The label
It seems that this manufacturer found a clever way to use the word NEW on their package desing.
21. The pizza
We do not tolerate deceiving food and this pizza is the kind of product we would be furious about.
22. The juice
This is absolutely unbelievable – there is no watermelon or strawberry juice inside of this product.
23. The container
This entirely new container appears to be much bigger than the old one but they contain the same amount.
24. The protein powder
There are manufacturers who always put less product in their packaging, just like this protein powder.
25. The pencils
You can see that these pencils are only half the size they were supposed to be.
26. The constructor set
There were supposed to be 800 blocks inside this box but it is not even halfway full.
27. The cashews
Here is one packaging type that could easily deceive everyone. You can see it is nearly empty.
28. The wrap
Well, this is not only disappointing to see but also infuriating because it is related to food.
29. The creamer
Well, we wonder why these people put such a label when the ingredients clearly indicate it is a dairy product.
30. The beef jerky
We guess that only the weight of the box would reveal that it is not as full as it appears to be.
31. The playground
This toddler playground is definitely not the same as the picture on its packaging.
32. The brownies
These candy topped brownies look good but there is hardly any candy on top of them.
33. The pens
We are certain that everyone would assume that these pencils had different colored ink inside.
34. The chips
Well, there is no doubt that this new bigger bag is nothing but a marketing trick and we don’t like that.
35. The magazine
You need to take a second look at this cover and you will see there are not 500 songs included in it.
36. The tablecover
This cover was supposed to be printed all over but we can all see that it is mostly plain white with no print on it.
37. The pastry
The yummy filling is mostly what we enjoy in this type of pastry but there is hardly any inside of this one.
38. The sugar
Now, this is surely something that is clever and deceiving at the same time but we guess it should not be allowed.
39. The sticker
The manufacturer specified that this item should not be microwaved but the sticker lied about it.
40. The bracelets
Now, here is something that could easily trick you into believing the whole box was full of these items.
41. The stickers
This is technically not a lie but in reality, more than 700 of these stickers are useless and you can see why.
42. The cream
We guess that this is something that everyone should check when they buy this brand from now on.
43. The super glue
Well, this is something that I didn’t really expected from a well known brand.
