Britney, Christina and Rihanna have all been considered as role models ever since they were in their teen years. But when it comes to teaching sociology and other majors in university, professors prefer Miley, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
Hannah Montana, Mother Monster and Mrs. Jay Z are an inevitable trend among college students these days. In fact, they are so trendy, that a number of higher educational institutions have decided to teach classes on them. For example, this spring the Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, is starting a brand new course called The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender and Media.
Beyonce also has her own university course, which was announced earlier this year as part of the academic curriculum at Rutgers University in New Jersey. The course is called Politicizing Beyonce and its main focus is the pop singer’s lyrics. The University of South Carolina has decided to put the spotlight on Lady Gaga with their newest course called Lady Gaga and the Sociology of Fame.
All these programs are actually intended to keep the students’ interest and focus.
