Dog Pretended To Be Sick So His Owners Will Stay Home From Work And They Fell For It

Dogs are some of the smartest creatures on the planet and they can get very creative (and even extreme) in pursuit of the things they want. Some pups use the irresistable charm of their adorable shiny eyes in order to acquire their desired attention. Others prefer to bark, whine and produce an array of different, loud sounds and there are also those that act like furry typhoons and wreck the place so people would pay attention to them.

Alex Salsberry and his wife, Kennady Longhurst, know that Sullivan, their pooch, enjoys spending time with his family. He loves to cuddle, hiking and generally being together the his family.
Unfortunately, that isn’t always possible for the young couple, as both of them have time-consuming jobs that require them to leave Sullivan(Sully) during the day.

One day, as Kennady was entering her home during a lunchbreak, she noticed that her dog was making a strange noise that resembled coughing. She got very worried and called her husband. As Sully kept on coughing, they both freaked out and that’s when he stopped and went back to normal out of the blue.
Kennady spoke about how the moment she started researching how to do CPR on dogs, the pooch went back to normal. Or at least that’s what she thought.

The next morning, as the two were preparing to go out, Sully started coughing again so Alex decided to work from home so he could have time to take his pet to the vet.

Several tests later, it was determined that Sullivan was a 100% healthy dog. Just in case, the veterenarian prescribed some antibiotics in case of an infection, although it was unlikely. Even the professional didn’t know what had caused it.

Even after a few days, Sully’s condition persisted. The couple checked with the vet again and that’s when he told them that their pet could be doing it to get more attention from them and that it wasn’t actually a legitimate cough.

Kennady found it ridiculous and tweeted about it in her frustration and amusement. Surprisingly enough, her tweet practically went viral with over 51 000 retweets and more than 197 000 likes.

She wrote, “husband stayed home from work cuz our dog was coughing. We took him to the vet and paid 85$ for him to tell us OUR DOG WAS FAKE COUGHING.”

People thought it was hilarious and many other pet owners commented on how thay had very similar experiences. They were all so similar and so different at the same time, with animals ranging from cats and dogs to horses and with the most commonly observed act being limping. Of course, it wasn’t limited to fake limping and coughing since apparently one pooch even faked a PREGNANCY for attention.

Apparently it’s not uncommon for animals to behave as such. Has your pet ever done something like this before?
