Everyone needs a couple of really good friends. At times, friends can be a bit demanding, but you still need them.
People in prison who don’t get to see other people eventually go nuts; if you think you can survive without human contact, you are wrong. You definitely need to be around other people once in a while.
Even the most famous and wealthy people on Earth need friends. At the very least, they hire people to pretend to be their friends—which sounds like a great job! I would happily be friends with a famous person if he or she tossed me a few thousand bucks here and there.
A lot of famous people do have dear friends—and those friends are often quite famous. Here are seven celebrity friendships that might surprise you.
1. Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence

At first, it seemed like an unlikely pair. Now that I think about it, the friendship makes a lot of sense.
You might know Schumer from “Trainwreck”. That’s the first time I ever paid much attention to her. That was pretty good. She has been doing standup since 2004, though. She is currently 37 years old and has quite the impressive career. She wrote a very well-received memoir, and she is a bonafide Broadway star. A few years back, she was considered one of the world’s most influential people.
You probably know who Jennifer Lawrence is; she also also considered one of the most influential people in the world. The 28-year-old actress is probably best known for “Hunger Games”, but she has been in a bunch of other stuff. In 2016, she was in “Passengers”, which was basically a love story in space. She is also in many “X-Men” films, and another one will come out early next year.
2. Bill Nye and Meghan Trainor

It seems hard to believe these two are actually friends, but I guess she is under the impression that they are. Honestly, I had no idea who she was until very recently. She is a singer and songwriter. I have probably heard one or more of her songs on the radio, but I wouldn’t know it. I am at that age where I have stopped listening to current music unless it is particularly interesting. It isn’t the best age to get to, but we all get there.
I am familiar with Bill Nye, of course, because he is the science guy. That show was on when I was a kid; I didn’t watch it much because I was too busy playing video games, but I hear it was cool. It won a bunch of Emmy awards, so there must have been something to it.
I like that he was on “The Big Bang Theory”. I wouldn’t say it is the best show in the world, but it is definitely pretty watchable. I am always happy when a new episode is released, and I am sad that the show is ending this year. I saw the guy that played Sheldon in a Broadway play a few years back; that was pretty cool.
One of the major reasons I like “Big Bang” is because Bob Newhart plays a character. I loved that show in which Newhart played an innkeeper in Vermont. The final episode was classic, of course, and you probably know about it; it was all just a dream. That was back in the day when such a thing would come as a surprise to television viewers.
3. Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams

These two became friends due to “Dawson’s Creek”, which was a show I never watched but was immensely popular a couple of decades back. I don’t know why I didn’t watch it; I was probably too young and my parents wouldn’t let me.
I am not terribly familiar with the work of Michelle Williams. I know she was in “Brokeback Mountain”, which I have not seen. I know she was involved with Heath Ledger and had a daughter with him. That’s about all I know.
I am a huge fan of Busy Philipps, though, for a couple of reasons. For one, she was on “Cougar Town”, which was one of my favorite shows when it aired. It ended in 2015 after a very respectable six-season run. The main star of the show was Courtney Cox, who you probably best remember as Monica from “Friends”. She was also in the “Scream” movies.
“Cougar Town” is sort of a difficult show to explain. It is all about people who live on a street in a neighborhood in Florida. It was very silly, but a lot of fun. Everyone on the show loved wine—they might have loved wine a little too much. The name is stupid, and even the creator admitted that.
The creator, Bill Lawrence, also created “Scrubs” and wrote for “Friends”. His wife, who appeared on “Scrubs” many times, was a main character on “Cougar Town”. She is very talented, but there was definitely a bit of nepotism at play there.
4. Jen Atkin and Chrissy Teigen

There is probably a halfway-decent chance you don’t know who these two are, and that’s okay. They are good friends, though, which is nice.
Jen Atkin is a hairstylist to the stars. The Kardashians apparently love her. Because of her affiliation with them and other stars, including Jennifer Lopez, she has become pretty famous herself.
Chrissy Teigen is a very successful model. It is hard to say what she is best known for, though. A little over a decade ago, she appeared on the cover of “Maxim”. She has also appeared on the cover of “Cosmopolitan” and “Esquire”. She has a clothing line, and she has also released a couple of cookbooks. She is married to singer and songwriter John Legend. They have been married since 2013. The pair have two children together.
5. Tana Mongeau and Bella Thorne

I first became familiar with the work of Bella Thorne due to “Big Love”, which was a show about polygamists in Utah. That’s sort of oversimplifying it, I guess, but that’s what you are going to get if you watch an episode. The show aired from 2006 until 2011. Bill Paxton was the main star of the show; you probably know him from “Aliens” and “Titanic”. He has been active as an actor for decades now.
Tana Mongeau is a very successful internet personality. Over 3 million people watch her on a regular basis. Hundreds of millions of people have watched her over the years. She is obviously doing pretty well for herself.
6. Cameron Diaz and Nicole Richie

I actually love both of these celebrities. Nicole Ritchie is great. I admit that I very much enjoyed “The Simple Life”. I am not sure why; I think I had a crush on Paris Hilton twelve or so years ago.
I am also a fan of Richie’s adoptive father Lionel Richie. He has made some great music over the years.
As for Cameron Diaz, there is so much to love! For one, “There’s Something About Mary” is one of my favorite movies ever. She did a great job of portraying the sort of young woman a lot of men want to marry. She was sort of irresistible in the part.
I also really liked her in “My Best Friend’s Wedding”. I am sort of embarrassed to admit I liked that movie as much as I did, but it is hard to dislike anything starring Julia Roberts. I could watch “Pretty Woman” again right now; I like that movie even more than I should because it stars Héctor Elizondo and Jason Alexander, who are two of my favorite actors. I’ll watch pretty much anything if either one of them are in it.
Jason Alexander, of course, is best known for playing George on the sitcom “Seinfeld”. From what I have read, he is not nearly as neurotic as the character he portrayed.
Héctor Elizondo, who is 81 and still acting, currently stars as Ed on the sitcom “Last Man Standing”. I can’t imagine being on a sitcom at the age of 81; then again, I can’t imagine being alive at the age of 81. That likely won’t happen.
7. Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling

It looks like Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling have a great relationship, which is super cool. I like both of them a lot. They both starred in the recent film adaptation of “A Wrinkle In Time”, which I did not see. I hear it was not the best, and Disney apparently lost a lot of money as a result.
Still, I admire both of the women. I love Reese because of “Legally Blonde”, which is one of those movies that is kind of dumb, but also always puts a smile on your face once you start watching it. She’s just very charming. You can’t help but want to spend time with Reese.
As for Mindy, I adore her because she starred on the American version of “The Office”, which is one of my favorite television shows. If you haven’t seen the American version, she plays a really ditzy customer service representative. She was on the show regularly for eight of its nine seasons, and she also appeared in the show’s series finale. The finale was great, but the final season was sort of mediocre.
